Our Pledge Drive is intended to expand our income from supporting Memberships to create a more stable and secure financial base for ALI and to compensate for the loss of income from underwriting that we are experiencing. Background
Over the course of the last nine years, ALI has gone through many changes and we've made huge strides in the development of our programs and in attracting an audience. At latest count, TAC has 153 videos up and streaming on demand on an incredibly diverse array of subjects and places around the world. We have lots of audio programs as well, including our very popular weekly news show, the Audio News from Archaeologica, with a monthly audience of around 300,000 listeners. Our annual visitors now number around 3 million and this is just the beginning. Our film festival that began in 2003 is now one of the leading events of its kind in the world.

Just like public broadcasting stations, both TV and radio, ALI's income is mostly a combination of underwriting, supporting memberships, grants, and product sales.

But now, since late last year, our underwriting income is under threat, as some existing and prospective sponsors have pulled back from supporting us, citing their own financial problems stemming from the current economic downturn. So far, we count about $20,000 in lost anticipated underwriting income. But our Membership Program is holding up well, demonstrating that our audience truly values our programming.

Our goal
$3,000 by November 25. This is about half of one month of our current costs, but more than what we raised last June. We think you can do it!

What is a pledge?
A pledge is a promise to pay. We are asking now only for your pledge. You contact us by e-mail, telephone or fax and give us a few essential pieces of information, including the amount of your pledge, your contact information, and how you wish to pay. You will then receive a reminder in your e-mail with instructions for how to send your payment.
