Bureau of Land Management:  

Intrigue of the Past: A Teacher’s Activity Guide for Fourth Through Seventh Grades

This teaching guide contains 28 classroom-tested lessons which use history and archaeology to teach science, math, history, social studies, art, language arts, and higher level thinking skills such as problem solving, synthesis, and evaluation. It addresses multiple learning and teaching styles and includes many hands-on activities. All lessons are either self-contained or require only readily available materials. It exposes students to issues surrounding the conservation of archaeological resources and provides them with opportunities to form their own ideas through discussion, debate, and problem solving. The lessons can be applied to any geographic area.

Teaching with Historic Places (TwHP) uses properties listed in the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places to enliven history, social studies, geography, civics, and other subjects.
