Welcome to The Archaeology Channel.  This is Rick Pettigrew.  Come in and take a look around.  We think you’ll like what you see and hear.

We began this nonprofit streaming-media website because for us archaeology is much more than the thrill of discovery and interest in ancient relics.  At this critical moment of rapid social and environmental change, people around the world are wondering if our path leads to a sustainable future.  At Archaeological Legacy Institute, we feel that people today should make important choices based on better understanding of our past and of our nature as human beings.  Archaeology offers a way to explore our origins and examine the consequences of our interaction with the world around us.

We also feel a special connection with indigenous peoples, who share with us an interest in the protection of the living cultural heritage as well as archaeological sites that represent the legacy of human ancestors.  This concern about the past doesn’t mean we turn our backs to the future.  Quite to the contrary: preparing our world for future generations requires the wisdom born from a clear understanding of our past.

Through The Archaeology Channel, you’ll  experience the thrill of discovery and stand in awe of artifacts and monuments from times long past.  You’ll wonder at the achievements and insights of our ancestors as they became aware of themselves, learned how to organize for the common good of growing populations, invented ways to adapt to ever-changing environments, developed language and artistic expression, migrated to every corner of our planet, and turned their eyes upward to the stars. But we’ll always find ways to step beyond the excitement of the moment to learn important lessons that have value for us today.

If you feel that what we are doing is worthy, please consider offering your support.  Become a Member of The Archaeology Channel and help us meet our goal of 50 new members before the end of July. Visit our Membership section for details.
