The Newport Performing Arts Center (NPAC) and ALI present
ArchaeologyFest Film Series:
Best of 2008
| |
Archaeological Legacy Institute
and the Newport
Performing Arts Center (777 W. Olive Street, Newport, Oregon)
are pleased to present four of the best films from the 2008 edition
of The Archaeology Channel International
Film and Video Festival. Top-rated by the Festival jury and audience,
these films are organized into two exciting programs, screening
Saturday, October 18, 2008, in Newport. This series is a benefit
for TAC Festival, an annual spring event in downtown Eugene and
the only film competition for its genre in the Western Hemisphere.
The program will begin with our featured
speaker, Mr. Onno Husing, Director of the Oregon Coastal Zone Management
Association, which is spearheading an ocean zoning effort for Oregon.
Mr. Husing's presentation, titled "A History of U.S. Highway 101,"
will showcase local historical photographs and tell the story of
Oregonians' connection to history through the highway and its architecture.
Movie programs begin at 11 am and 2
pm, in the Alice Silverman Theatre, and conclude by about 4:00 pm.
Doors open at 9:30 am, and tickets are $6.00 at the door. All proceeds
go to support TAC
Festival (next edition: May 19-23, 2009, in the Soreng Theater
at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene).
