Underwriting Program

Our Traffic Facts to Consider Our Program Underwriter List

We invite companies, organizations and individuals to consider underwriting The Archaeology Channel to secure valuable exposure while making a significant contribution to public education. Underwriting, a form of sponsorship for nonprofit organizations, promotes the Underwriter while supporting the nonprofit. Underwriters benefit from the public visibility and positive image they derive from the exposure as well as the traffic attracted to their Web sites and the sales that result. The fee paid by an Underwriter to ALI is considered a tax-deductible contribution by the IRS. Underwriting contributions are a critically important source of operating funds for our organization and this project. We appreciate your help!

Consider Our Traffic

The Archaeology Channel is now one of the most popular archaeology websites in the world. Our traffic has grown dramatically over the past four years, reaching over 7.6 million hits and 760,000 sessions in 2004. The following graphic illustrates our growth from meager beginnings in 2000.

More Facts to Consider

The Archaeology Channel offers distinct advantages for prospective underwriters:

o Our reach is worldwide.

o Our viewers are drawn from that portion of the world population with access to computers and Internet access, including broadband users, who tend to have more discretionary income than average.

o Our subject matter, archaeology and indigenous peoples, is widely popular. A 1999 Harris Poll of U.S. residents revealed that 76 percent of adults score their interest level in archaeology between 5 and 10 on a scale of 10.

o We have cultivated partnerships with archaeologists, indigenous groups, film and video producers, and film festival organizers to develop a large and growing volume of content (take a look!) that is very attractive to visitors. We are even creating original content of our own. Your message will be seen by many thousands of people.

Our Sponsorship Program

Supporting The Archaeology Channel is as simple as sponsoring a video or audio program. You can become an underwriting sponsor by contributing $100 per month for one or more months. Individuals, organizations, or companies can sponsor as many programs as desired (up to the number of programs we are webcasting at any given time) at the rate of $100 per program per month or $1000 per program per year. As an Underwriter, you will be credited in a very visible way on the program pages you sponsor. Credits may include your logo, name, a link to your website, and a 40-word descriptive statement of your choice. Descriptive statements should outline the nature of your company's business or your organization's mission and provide contact information. Your information will be highlighted in an attractive manner that will create a positive impression for you, your organization, or your company and will generate traffic to your website.

To become an Underwriter, download our Underwriting Agreement PDF file. Print out the form, fill it out (please use black ink) and send it back to us (via regular mail or fax), with signature and initial payment. If you would like to discuss details, please e-mail our Underwriting Coordinator, Dr. Guy Prouty. Prepayment is required for the term of the Underwriting Agreement. Payments may be made on-line as well, via the Network for Good link in the left column of this page.

We are willing to negotiate special arrangements. For example, you may wish to place your underwriting message on our Home Page or on another page that receives lots of attention. For this we can discuss the appropriate contribution. We are always willing to listen to your circumstances and ideas.
