Dr. Mark Van Stone reads the Creation story on Quiriguá Stela C, the late Eighth Century monument in Guatemala telling the myth of the "Planting of the Three-Stone Hearth (of Creation)." This creation myth connected with fears that the world would end in 2012. The text gives the names and actions of five actors in part of the Maya Creation myth of 13.0.0.0.0, which is 3114 BC in our calendar. This 13.0.0.0.0 date would repeat in December 2012, which is why many people called it the "end of the calendar" and predicted a tremendous change in our world.
