Who were these people, and why were they portrayed? The film delves into their lives, tracing their origins, social roles and significance in Renaissance society. Through expert interviews and an exploration of historical archives, it reveals a rich, multiethnic world, where the complexity of race, class and power shaped the era’s cultural fabric.
