This documentary uncovers a hidden chapter in one of Italy's most notorious World War II tragedies—the massacre at the Fosse Ardeatine in Rome on March 24, 1944. While the massacre is widely commemorated, many of the victims remained nameless, lost in the shadows of history. Over 60 years later, three women—a documentary film maker, an archivist and a forensic biologist—embark on a poignant mission to identify these unknown bodies and reunite them with families scattered across the world. Through emotional journeys from Rome to Tel Aviv, Florence to the London countryside, the documentary blends historical re-enactments with real-life experiences to solve the mystery, culminating in an unexpected and powerful discovery.
