Archaeologists from New Zealand come to the small Pacific island of Atafu to excavate and live among the native Polynesian people. Their project is called “Human Ecology in Tokelau.” This project involves researchers of many kinds from many countries and including native people from Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand that includes three small, low-lying, islands inhabited by Polynesian people. Atafu is one of those islands. The archaeologists and the native people work together and end up learning a lot from each other.
