The Ebey Slough Bridge, a swing-span bridge opening sideways for boat traffic, was christened in 1927, just before Babe Ruth's New York Yankees won the World Series.  This innovative bridge closed one of the last gaps in the Pacific Coast Highway between Mexico and Canada: Ebey Slough between Everett and Marysville, Washington.  In 2012, the Washington State DOT documented it before replacing it.  Robert Rasmussen, Sr., who worked for the highway department in Denmark, was the first bridge tender and worked there for decades.
